Worn-out baseball hats, oversized NFL sweatshirts, and ill-fitting jeans overwhelm Sheridan Road as male students trudge around nonchalantly in their I-just-got-up-two-minutes-ago style. Norwegian freshman, Mats Johansen, however, breaks up the fashion uniformity with a beige and copper Russian faux fur trapper hat and a sleek black trim-fit coat. Johansen purchased the hat in Moscow, jeans from from the Scandinavian store Acne, and coat at Zara, reflecting his hip and urban European style. Johansen usually shops at Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, Acne, and Zara. He claims that every guy should wear a pair of skinny jeans to class—a highly refreshing thought that shows how he isn’t afraid to stand out.
