The combat lace-up boot once screamed edgy, cool and unassuming. But the message becomes dull when every single pair of legs you bump into is yelling it at full volume. This offender is winter’s version of summer’s gladiator sandal – Limited Too probably has a version of it, which means it’s time to move on. On your hunt for the next best grungy thing, shop for shoes as you would for denim. Pay attention to the details – the overall shape, accessories and proportion – and most importantly, have fun while looking for a pair with a good combination of all three characteristics that personally speaks to you. Be sure to keep in mind that shoes are another opportunity to take a risk. Don’t let the plethora of designs out there go to waste; take full advantage of them. The next time you reach for a pair of boots they’d better be made for gawking. (See what I did there?) See what we’re talking about after the jump.
