“RUSH” packs college stereotypes into two-minute trailer

Nothing attempts to wrap stereotypical college life into a neat box quite like the trailer for “RUSH,” the Applause for a Cause 2011 feature film. They pull out all the stops: beer bongs, flip cup, shot gunning beers, freshmen trying to act drunk, sorority girls rocking the ellipticals at Blom (our personal fave!), and, as the title suggests, the all-important rite of passage that is rush. It’s like “High School Musical” if the kids ever made it to college and stopped spontaneously bursting out into song. So will the main characters get into the sorority/fraternity of their dream? Probably not because, let’s face it, movies like this are supposed to have a redeeming message, right? And underage binge drinking and no-strings-attached hook ups are just too hard to spin as wholesome.
