ASG’s looking to lessen the flow of booze on campus. In a special meeting on alcohol, a rep from ASG stated that “one of the problems with Northwestern and college campuses in general is the emphasis on binge drinking.” Oh… really?
By the end of the night, those in attendance generally agreed that policy was not the most effective way to address the issue, instead embracing alcohol education, complete amnesty for students who call in to report an intoxicated friend, and reduced repercussions for the inebriated. But while such suggestions may change the way NU students react to a drunk friend, we have to wonder how they’ll prevent that friend from taking four shots too many to begin with.

Amnesty is the solution to the question of safety- you should never be punished for doing the right thing!
NU admins will never give us an amnesty policy. They don’t care nearly enough about keeping us safe to do that…
