The NU Interview asks a set list of questions of just about anyone with a stake in Northwestern.

How do you feel about the possibility of the Great Room closing?

I actually have never been to the Great Room, so I’m not really sure about how I feel. I’ve heard it’s really good, but actually don’t really know.

If you weren’t in college now, what would you be doing?

[Pauses] Probably living in Chicago, working for a business…I don’t know, what would I be doing? Maybe working for like a firm, as a consultant, but also working at Nordstrom, because I love working at Nordstrom.

Did you work at Nordstrom at home?

Yeah, just over the summer…it was really cool. Wait, that’s actually a really lame answer. Can I change my answer?

A cappella: yes or no?

If I opened my mouth, people would run away. But I love to sing [laughs] so if I could sing I totally would. I support it, I think it’s totally awesome, I just can’t do it myself.

What’s your favorite NU moment?

That’s tricky. [Lowers voice] Is it ok that I’m taking a really long time to answer? Do people think about it? [Laughs] This is lame, I’m really thinking. My favorite NU moment was when we got to school and everyone was super excited and friendly. It’s kind of fading now [laughs] but like when everyone got to school and people were super happy and excited to be meeting everyone, that was cool, I guess.

What’s your drink?

My drink? Vodka tonic with lime.

What’s the best course at Northwestern?

I have to say I’ve yet to take it [laughs] but so far my favorite class that I’ve taken would be the Spanish classes. They’re a lot of work but a lot of fun, you don’t get bored.

And what’s the worst thing about NU?

I can’t think of anything, I’m like one of those people who sees things the glass half full. I would say that something you can already tell as a freshman is that the social scene is really small, of the people that actually go out. You see all the same faces all the time, which is nice, but there’s not a lot of room…maybe like the North-South divide would be my biggest issue with it, because I feel like I don’t know many people down south, and I feel like there are really interesting people that I would love to be friends with but will never get the opportunity to meet.

What’s your fraternity of choice?

I’d have to say Lodge, just because my entire floor is in Lodge, and I’m really good friends with them, and my pledge husband is in Lodge.

What turns you on?

Boys that dress well and smell good. When I say dress well, I mean put together, not only designer!

Tell us about your favorite Sodexho-provided meal. What is it?

Gourmet night…they decorated Sarge and they gave us steak and mashed potatoes, it was super funny. It might actually not be…my favorite Sodexho-provided meal might be the whole wheat pasta with marinara. I’m very easy, I’ll eat anything. I’m like Sodexho’s biggest fan, which is kind of embarrassing because you’re not supposed to like cafeteria food.

The Keg or the Deuce?

McFadden’s.

Favorite place to dine in Evanston?

Pete Miller’s, the steak place, or I would say, just on a casual day grabbing lunch, I would say Cosi. I’m a big fan.

Your best friend from high school is visiting, where does he/she sleep?

She likes her sleep, so I’d probably give her her own bed. She always complains she didn’t get enough sleep. When she came to visit my roommate let her sleep in her bed.

Hong long were you at the last basketball game for?

My friend on the basketball team will be angry at me because I kept promising to go but I haven’t been and the season’s now over [laughs] sooo maybe next year. I really do want to go!

Where do you go to be alone?

That’s like the hardest thing when you are at school, especially when you live in Bobb. The library? Sad but when you’re busy, that’s when you’re alone. I would say walking, like when I’m walking to class. That’s like basically it, you’re like never really alone.

What would you tell a high school senior about Northwestern?

That it’s the perfect mix of everything, and that you can make it what you want it. That it’s work hard play hard and there are people who are going to be like you, if you seek them out. I think everyone would be happy if they made an effort. And I think they should come! I also want to be a tour guide…maybe that’s what I’d be if I wasn’t in school!
