After the jump, our editors react instantaneously as ASG Presidential candidates Claire Lew and Alessio Manti rip into one another live in Norris’ Northwestern Room beginning at 7 p.m. Also, we’ll prime you on where the race stands ahead of tomorrow’s balloting.

Where the race stands: ASG establishment candidate Claire Lew has been endorsed by the Daily, which “moderately” endorsed current ASG president Mike McGee last year. Lew worked on McGee’s campaign, and now his Facebook photo is her campaign logo. Pay to play politics are alive in Illinois, people!

Her opponent, Alessio Manti, meanwhile, keeps ranting to Lew (via text), students (via listservs), and to us (via comments) about how unfairly he’s being treated by the Lew campaign, by vandals, and by the media. Today, the Daily printed some of the candidates’ text messages back and forth. (Let us tell you: Alessio Manti text-messages with the alacrity of Hermes.) To summarize them: Alessio Manti heckles Claire Lew for not apologizing for the vandalism of his campaign posters. Claire Lew is all, Sorry to hear about that, but I’m not responsible. Alessio Manti is like, Oh ya? I’ve heard otherwise. Claire Lew gets uppity, and is like, Sorry AGAIN but I have nothing to do with this.

Drama, people. Drama. The basic contour of the race remains this: Alessio Manti feels like the underdog, Claire Lew feels like the front-runner, the only people who have a clue are some Daily staffers, who agree with all of that. Yet no one really knows what’s going to happen. Let the live-blogging begin.
