Each morning, the Buzz List reads what news it can bear and presents you with just the things you really need to know.

Your Facebook might say more about you than you think: Students at MIT have created a computer program that can analyze a Facebook profile and determine the user’s sexuality. Yup, you read that right: “Gaydar,” once a sixth sense, might become a real-world tool. [Boston Globe]

Runners, take note: Evanston has received a $720,000 grant to fix the long-deteriorated section of lakefront path between Lee Street and Clark Street. This brings the city’s lakefront renovation total up to $1.27 million, drawn from federal stimulus funds. [The Daily]

The VP and executive editor of the Chicago Tribune, Gerould Kern, is coming to campus on Oct. 8 as the first speaker in the 2009-10 Crain Lecture Series. Kudos to Northwestern’s engineering students for taking Northwestern’s green initiative to the next level: the student group Engineers for a Sustainable World has come up with two proposals to power Ford with solar energy. While one member of the project told the Daily that the group is optimistic about the effort, here’s hoping that the team gets the University support and funding needed to make its plans a reality.
