The website, UChicagoHookups.com has garnered so much attention since launching in mid-February—including shout outs on Jay Leno, HuffPo and the Red Eye—that the site’s creators have decided to change the URL to eduHookups.com and to allow Northwestern and Columbia College students to get in on the action (pun most definitely intended). With more than 800 users, the site is modeled off the “Casual Encounters” section on Craigslist but requires users to submit a valid .edu email address—how Facebook circa 2005 exclusive! The site’s creators, who still remain anonymous, say on their site that the unique sociological experiment started first as a coding project “to change the age-old belief that UChicago is a place where ‘fun comes to die.’” We prefer the slogan: “UChicago: where the only thing that goes down on you is your GPA,” but you get the point.
