The Harvard Foundation announced today it has selected Shakira as its 2011 Artist of the Year. Yeah, we have to admit we’re a little surprised, too. Did Josh Groban cancel? Regardless, one thing is certain: JBiebs got snubbed again. The Foundation said it selected Shakira for her musical talent—we’d only go as far as describing songs like “Waka Waka” as catchy—and philanthropic contributions. Notably, the Colombian songstress started Pies Descalzos, also known as the Barefoot Foundation, an organization that works to educate and feed impoverished youth, in 1997.
