A group of more than 50 local residents and a handful of students gathered behind Annenberg and Swift Halls Friday afternoon to protest House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s speech at the Kellogg School of Management. Many of the protestors were connected to the Occupy Chicago movement and held signs with sentiments including: “Jobs not cuts,” “Screw the corporations for a change,” and “People over profit.” Northwestern students showcased their notorious apathy with only two students — a senior connected to the Living Wage campaign and an international student from France — giving speeches at the protest. Despite the protest, which included a march from Annenberg Hall down Sheridan Road to Deering Meadow, Cantor’s speech went on as planned.
