One time ASG presidential candidate Alessio Manti penned an opinion piece for NBN today in which he discusses the major problems affecting Northwestern’s student government. At the top of his list: the need for an outsider to take the reins as president next year. The argument makes sense; students complain ASG is at best a bureaucratic nightmare and at worst largely irrelevant to the student population. So what better way to right the ship than bring in some new blood, and where else can you make more of an impact than at the top? But isn’t this piece a little late—okay, more like a whole year late? Yeah, we get it. You’re all maverick-y and so not part of the ASG machine (despite your noted involvement as a freshman. Is that blood we see on your hands?) No matter how much the rant opinion piece comes off as platform for re-election, Manti assures readers in the comments he has no such intentions: “To clear any doubt, no I am not running for ASG President or any other ASG position this year.”
