We get it, you're upset. But haven't you heard that imitation is the finest form of flattery?

Mo Greene, the rapper behind the original ode to Northwestern “White and Purple,” will meet with Chet Haze this weekend. It’s like NU’s own hip-hip summit between Biggie and Tupac, but less violent. Greene says he appreciates the free press his song got following the media frenzy surrounding Haze’s release, but in case things get dirty Greene also tells the Daily he’s not afraid to take “the quarrel to the next level.” Mo still seems to think that Chet ripped off his song—but with the popularity of college remixes to Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow,” it’s hard to think of any of the content as original. The reality is without the meme-status of Haze’s version of the song, Greene’s single wouldn’t have made it past the dorm rooms of NU and the occasional play at Ryan Field. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
