NBN equates UChicago with troll or child

They might have a prettier campus, but nothing beats the Keg and the Deuce.

NU students who visit the newly registered website uchicagorejects.com will get more of a shock than when coming across unwanted male genitalia on Chat Roulette. The URL, which NBN reports was purchased by Emily Chen, a University of Chicago sophomore, redirects to NU’s homepage. She may get points when it comes to humor but not originality. Similar websites have popped up including mitrejects.com and stanfordrejects.com, which redirect students to Caltech and UC Berkeley, respectively.

When it comes to academics, the two schools appear evenly matched. UChicago ties for eighth, four spots above Northwestern, in U.S. News and World Report’s list of the nation’s best universities. But NU makes up the difference because it is not where fun goes to die. Still, we have to credit our south side counterparts for their sense of humor when it comes to self-deprecation. Our favorite satirical t-shirt has to be: “The University of Chicago: where the only thing that goes down on you is your GPA.”

Because one article about a joke URL isn’t enough coverage, NBN wrote about the web address in its advice column “Dear Sir or Madam.” The anonymous adviser equates UChicago with a troll or child. “If we indulge the child, then it will think that bad behavior will get it respect, so it will continue to do ridiculous things to get attention,” the anonymous adviser writes. Two articles in one day isn’t indulgence? We sense some unintended irony here.
