In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the MLK Day Planning Committee organized the 33rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Candlelight Vigil at Alice Millar Chapel. Keynote speaker Tim King drew parallels between students at Urban Prep Academies—the non-profit organization he founded—and Martin Luther King Jr., explaining that while every person may not enact a great change in the world, they may inspire the person that does. The evening also featured performances by the Northwestern Community Ensemble, harpist Sheila Kredit, and NU a cappella groups including ShireiNU, Brown Sugar and Harmony in Spirit.
