NU community-building trip planned at Six Flags

But only some members of that "community" get free tickets.

If you're a freshman in the Class of 2014, this could be you—for free. If not, well, you'll still have to pay.

In an effort to foster community at Northwestern, all returning students will be invited to Six Flags Great America the Friday of Wildcat Welcome Week. This new policy is far more encompassing than the similar freshmen-only event this past September. But there’s a catch. The freshmen still get the upper hand with free park admission and transportation, while upperclassmen will have to shell out between $20-$30 for a ticket. Something tells us that returning students don’t really care enough about a sober trip to an amusement park with superhero-themed rides to pay.

We get Morty wants a greater Northwestern community. From the campus conversations to a new form of residential housing, “community” has remained the constant theme throughout his first year as NU’s president. We’re don’t pretend to be sociology scholars, but isn’t equality at the heart of any strong community?
