Provost Dan Linzer announced today the appointment of Dr. Patricia Telles-Irvin as the new VP of Student Affairs. Currently the VP of Student Affairs at the University of Florida, Telles-Irvin will succeed Bill Banis, following his retirement this summer. In Linzer’s announcement to the Northwestern community, he hailed Telles-Irvin as “a national leader in student affairs.” She’s currently serving a year-long stint as president of NASPA, the national association of student affairs administrators in higher education. At the University of Florida, Telles-Irvin worked to crack down on binge drinking and helped introduce the “Gator Common Reading Program,” similar to NU’s “One Book, One Northwestern.”
