When you pay private school prices, you expect some perks. Maybe it’s the state-of-the-art facilities, the smaller class sizes, and, oh yeah, the allure of “free” football. We can’t help but wonder if students would be as enthusiastic about our mediocre team if these tickets cost $250 a year, like they do for Michigan students. This week in Number Crunch: We break down which teams in the Big Ten demand the highest prices. Check out the graphic and stats after the jump.

Ranked teams Wisconsin (4), Michigan (12), and Illinois (19) have middle of the road prices. Unranked Ohio State, however, tops the pack at a whopping $34 per game. Minnesota, on the other hand, recognizes its sub-par performance and has some of the lowest ticket prices. All these stats beg the question: How much would Northwestern students be willing to spend? We can’t speak for everyone, but we’d probably stop going to Ryan Field if tickets weren’t free.
