Number of rental units available in the city of Evanston. Statistics drawn from the 2000 census and the 2006-2008 American Community Survey.
If you’re an upperclassmen in search of off campus housing, you already know the harsh reality of the Evanston rental market: it’s competitive. And a recently released study by the Interfaith Housing Center of the Northern Suburbs shows the number of rental units in Evanston dropped nearly 25 percent in the last decade. The city saw dramatic declines in all types of rental units, except four bedroom units, which increased 46 percent since 2000. Good thing NU students can still rent those four bedroom units without worrying about the building inspector knocking at their door. A full graph of the rental stats after the jump
