A&O announced Sunday it will be bringing comedian and actor Tracey Morgan to campus Feb. 6 for a 7:30 p.m. show. Instead of providing the usual boring press release information about the event, NBN linked to five memorable Morgan clips from his time on “30 Rock,” “Saturday Night Live,” and various stand-up acts. Once again NBN leads the way in multimedia. [NBN]
Northwestern may not be known for campus unity, but we know how to come together for a good cause. The Daily reports Saturday night’s event, “NU Cares at the Keg,” raised $5,166 for the Haitian relief efforts. Students paid a $5 entry fee, which was donated to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, and were serenaded by five of NU’s a cappella groups. The event was 18-plus to maximize fundraising efforts, but when did the need to be 21 ever stop anyone from going to the Keg? [The Daily]
Did you do a double take last time you left the Evanston movie theatre? That isn’t a figure looking like it’s walking the plank Captain-hook style above the Maple Avenue Garage, but rather the newest public art installment. The piece, titled “Encounter” includes two figures walking toward each other on a balance beam. The city allocated $105,000 for the project. If only they could have given some of the money to the homeless people who harass me outside of CVS. [The Daily]
In continuing The Daily’s tradition of Forum articles which are not at all relevant to Northwestern students, Monday columnist David Moss writes about the Nintendo Wii altering reality. The article remains harmless until Moss makes up three fake Wii games and feels the need to make “wii” the prefix before numerous words. Can you say wiidiculous? At least it’s a bit more mature than his MLK Day acrostic.
