The week of generous frats and hangover cures

11/18/11, 11:16 pm

Trying to snag yourself a special someone before Thanksgiving break? Why don’t you take said person downtown to the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, and woo them with the romantic nature of it all. Prefer to party on campus—just like you do every other weekend? Check out our timeline of Evanston’s crazy past with alcohol to see just how lucky we have it now. In the spirit of gratefulness, see how much frats spend on red Solos each weekend. Talk about generosity. And after two solid nights of raging, drag your hungover self out of bed Sunday morning and make the trek Bagel Art on Dempster Street. Or if you’re feeling lazy, check out how one junior suggests to kick a hangover.

Turning to the world outside the Northwestern bubble, Rihanna released Talk That Talk her sixth studio album this week. While it’s not as raunchy as initially rumored, the album still includes that classic RiRi energy. Pixie Lott’s sophomore album wasn’t as successful, showing that she might not live up to Adele, as anticipated.

Best of buzz: This week, Evanston came one step closer to allowing the Cinemark Century Theatre Café to serve alcohol, letting residents get a little tipsy before checking out that movie. A professor at San Francisco State University left his class because no one brought in snacks to share. At least wasn’t an engineering class, because one study confirmed that, yes, engineers study a lot.
