The week in pictures: Loco Moco, Desiree's penthouse apartment, Homecoming Date auction, poll answers, style pick, Peter Stein, and hooking up with professors.
As the first week of midterms come to a close, we’re starting to remember all of the things we hate about the quarter system. Luckily, Chet’s new music video for “Hollywood” proved to be a perfect distraction. Despite the somewhat questionable lyrics, the beat is just as catchy as those Ke$ha songs we can’t seem to get out of our head. If you’re looking for other forms of procrastination, you can get lost (almost literally) in this week’s rave rooms, which takes us to The Duckhead on the ninth floor of Evanston Place. While most of us never get the invite to the lavish themed parties in the EP penthouse, there are now plenty of parties to go around with the end of freshmen freeze. You can check out our exhaustive coverage of the ceremonious “thaw” in this week’s Party Report.
Continuing with the drunken highlights: One sophomore shared with us her tale of a wild night roaming the halls in Tech complete with accidental showers and sprained ankles. And we introduced you to another sophomore who admits he’s smitten with Willow Smith. But just remember, no matter how crazy your weekend (or how desperately you need an A), hooking up with your professor probably isn’t the best idea.
Speaking of missed opportunities: if you didn’t make it downtown for the free cheese yesterday, have no fear, we still have some ideas for your weekend plans. Just stop by Enclave tonight for a free Super Smash Bros. performance. Or if you’re feeling like more a chill night where you get to showcase your inner domestic diva, try cooking up some Loco Moco, a traditional Hawaiian dish.
Best of Buzz: A short list of the things we learned this week: Evanstonians steal weird things, college fashion is now a trend, and the University of Iowa likes the gays. So basically we live in a bastion of progressiveness here in the great Midwest.
Oh, and before we let you go, a shameless plug: Do you like us? Do you really like us? Well, good. We’re looking for new members to add to our revamped video section — and you don’t even need any experience. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
