Following Friday’s announcement at Battle of the DJs that Guster will be coming to Dillo Day, reaction on campus has been partly positive and partly… not there. Case in point: While all of the comments over at NBN are positive (apart from one correction), those comments number only six. Compare that with Nelly’s 41. The Twitterverse is similarly blasé, with one user, “Christinaalter,” writing, “strangest playlist ever: nelly, guster & regina spektor.”
With hardly any student reactions in cyberspace, we decided to take it to the streets. When we first spoke with freshman Rachel Abrahams, she hadn’t heard Guster was coming. “I guess I better start revisiting Guster on my iTunes,” she says. “I haven’t listened to them in a long time, but I’m sure it will be fun live.”
Freshman Isaac Hasson is arguably the most enthusiastic (to wit: his current Facebook status is “GUSTER; holy fucking shit”). “I was so pumped,” he says. “I love Guster. I really like the idea that Mayfest had to bring Nelly and Guster because they were both really popular when we were growing up.”
