After Bill Carmody’s announcement of a multi-year contract extension, some Wildcat fans are left grumbling in the oh-so-telling realm of college basketball blogs. Eamonn Brennan of ESPN outlines the complaints wonderfully, with only minimal bashing of our program (Best quote: “Hey, it’s Northwestern, a team that has the words “4 NIT APPEARANCES” on a banner in Welsh-Ryan Arena. Yes, this is true, and yes, it might be the saddest banner in college sports.”) After 11 years with NU, Carmody has improved the program, but has yet to net us a tourney. Essentially, fans are treating Carmody as that first boyfriend or girlfriend. It was sweet while it lasted darling, but, hey, we’ve got to move on.
