After NU almost pulled off a shocker against Penn State at Ryan Field on Halloween, we were left to wonder: what if? Abe gave another report card full of low grades, something that has happened a lot this season–even when the ‘Cats win. Dan Persa was thrown to the fire last Saturday, and despite all the pressure on him, some message board posters are already giving up.
Luckily, NU wasn’t the only team with a rough day on Saturday as we told you about other teams flailing in the joke that is the Big Ten conference in 2009.
Looking ahead to this weekend, Aaron spent most of his week hating Iowa and he gives you reasons to be angry that the Hawkeyes are somehow 9-0 and #4 in the land. We gave you a numbers-filled preview of Saturday’s games, and our weekly predictions that include some of us getting a little less confidentabout Northwestern’s chances for an upset.
Flag football enthusiasts compare the unveiling of the playoff brackets like Christmas morning. The brackets are out, and our IM guys gave you a bracket-by-bracket breakdown full of sleepers, favorites, as well as championship predictions. The road to the championship begins Sunday, we’ll see if they’re right.
And hey, it’s almost basketball season! Get your full preview of Northwestern’s men’s basketball team right here on The Post everyday next week, leading up to their opener on Friday night. In the 71-year history of the NCAA Tournament, NU has never made it. We think this could be the year.
