We caught up with starting cornerback Jordan Mabin to check in after two straight victories for Northwestern.

What is your favorite part of road trips?
Definitely going out and seeing other stadiums, that’s always cool. The fans are fun. When you are playing in someone else’s arena it’s like everyone hates you so it’s you against the world and that’s always a fun atmosphere. Just you against the world. It feels like you’re going to war. The hotel is always fun and they always have good food on the road.

Have you ever played NCAA Football 2010? Ever notice it has you as 4th string cornerback?
Really? (Laughs) I have it online so it updates it automatically so I got moved up. Right away when I saw it I was like, wait a second, and my stats weren’t right. But then I upgraded it so it’s close to being correct. They had me at 91 speed, so I liked that.

Sherrick [McManis] is a 92 for speed, is he faster?

Hey, we’ve never raced so we’ll never know; we’re about the same speed. I’d like to see it in a race, though.

Is your awareness that bad (rated at a 61)?
Wow, they must think I’m not even paying attention.

Do the players joke about the way the game portrays everyone?

Yea especially since some of the skin tones are totally different, like white guys are black guys [in the game], we always have a ball. We played it a lot at camp Kenosha, we’d have big games together and that was a lot of fun. There is always lots of trash talking.

You were penalized for a late hit on Saturday, what happened?

It was close on the sidelines. I thought he was in-bounds, and then I hit him. I felt bad about it after because I wasn’t trying to give him a cheap shot, I was just trying to play aggressive because the coaches have been stressing that. I went a little bit overboard but we made them punt on that drive.

Did you see it on tape?

Yea, it was a little bit out of bounds (laughs), but hindsight’s 20/20. If I could I would go back and try to pull up.

Is there any punishment?

Not so much, just the coaches talked to me about it and said play smart because it extended the drive, luckily they went three and out after that.

How have your student interactions been since we last talked (NU has won two in a row)?
People are always congratulating us when we go to class; it’s nice to have the student body behind us. I went to class the other day and two girls were saying congratulations and asking questions about how it is out there. They didn’t know much about football so I liked explaining it to them.

What’s the best class you’re in right now?

Consumer behavior, it’s a marketing class, it’s the most fun class I’m in. the others are US History and stuff like that, and those aren’t interesting to me at least. If the whole football thing doesn’t work out I hope to go into, business, marketing, or sales or something like that.

Who is the best receiver you’ve covered?

Tied between two. [Eric] Decker (Minnesota) and Brian Robiskie [Ohio State, now plays for the Cleveland Browns)—he’s big and fast.

How do you and Sherrick decide who lines up against whom?
Last year we switched sides, now I play right corner he plays left. It’s cool to stay on your side because if you switch you can get tendencies.

Who gets the most attention from women on campus?

It has to be David Nwabuisi (redshirt freshman linebacker). He’s a big talker. He sweet-talks the ladies. I always hear stories; I guess he’s a sweet talker. I know he likes talking with the ladies.
