Many posters on the widlcatreport.com football message boards make outrageous proclamations from time to time. Yet, during a post on Saturday at 2:15 PM, as well as later in the afternoon at 2:23 and 4:16, infamous poster Baz=Heisman took “outrageous” to a new level. At 2:15, Baz=Heisman wrote in regards to the state of NU’s football program, “I want consistent bowls and more specifically decent bowls (I.e. No worse that 4th-5th bowl). I think we didn’t realize how good last year was. 95,96,00 probably won’t happen again with Fitz because he is happy with mediocrity. He doesn’t hold anyone accountable (maybe minus Matthews today on the KR) and is like an AYSO with the BS positive crap.” Later, at 4:16, in response to comments defending Coach Fitz’s leadership, Baz=Heisman remarked, “If you believe Fitz is the leader he was as a player I can’t help you. I just don’t see it. Clapping his hands and running on the field is fine but let’s see something else.”
Fortunately, some NU fans have common sense. Anyone who follows the program knows, Fitz is not a coach satisfied with mediocrity. Baz=Heisman, you should check out the previously-linked Coach Fitz offensive line tirade. (Also, linked in last week’s post). You’re totally right though, he definitely enjoys sitting idly while his team’s performance suffers.
Are his words not good enough for you? Take a look at his writing. Let me direct you toward his twitter page. Now, it’s known that he hates updating this page, and understandably so; it can be a nuisance and he has a program to run. Still, even if it’s a burden to him, this page just breathes INTENSITY. There’s no accepting “mediocrity” here, and in fact, one could argue his passion is almost over the top.
Finally, Coach Fitz’s actions. His typically postive and encouraging demeanor on the sidelines certainly does not indicate a lack of concern with the direction of the program. Positive emotions and an encouraging personality have been, and still are, characteristics of highly successful college and pro coaches. (See Dungy, Tony and Carroll, Pete). His sideline demeanor shouldn’t be a concern of yours, Baz=Heisman. He knows this team, and himself, best. Each player reacts to adversity differently. Unlike you, who just constantly panics. Calm down.

So glad someone is tired of the bullshit on the message boards. Well said Stephen.
