If there is any benefit to supporting a perennially awful basketball team, it’s that you don’t have to experience devastating losses that kill postseason hopes. The football team has had its fair share (if I may digress: 1995 Miami (OH), 1996 Rose Bowl, 2000 Iowa, 2004 Hawaii, 2005 Sun Bowl, 2006 New Hampshire, 2007 Duke, 2008 Indiana, 2008 Alamo Bowl, 2010 Outback Bowl–to name a few). more

Basketball seniors are dropping like flies
What was supposed to be a basketball season with the possibility of a first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament has taken a turn for the worst. Senior forward Kevin Coble announced that he would not play this season and instead opt for surgery to repair a fracture in his left foot. And the team’s other senior leaders aren’t faring well either: Forward Jeff Ryan will miss the season with a torn ACL and guard Jeremy Nash disclosed that he is suffering from irregular breathing. The NBN magazine is out this week, and the web editors got Schapiro talking. So, what’s on our President’s mind? Richard Gere wouldn’t be the one to play him in a biopic, he wants to see our basketball team at the NCAA tournament, he can’t remember the craziest thing he did as an undergrad at Hofstra, and while he thinks that “our campuses would be safer if we had an 18-year-old drinking age,” he doesn’t support the Amethyst Initiative.
